Troubleshooting making & receiving calls
Visit Troubleshoot & Resolve Phone Calls for guided steps to help you make and receive phone calls.
Main steps
To resolve issues with making and receiving phone calls:
1. Turn your phone off, and then turn it on.
2. View the Network Coverage Map to verify service in your area.
3. Make sure you and your callers use 10- or 11-digit dialing when placing calls.
4. If traveling outside the U.S., learn how to call or message internationally.
5. Visit Device Support to view tutorials and videos for the following:
. Turn off Airplane Mode - Most phones display an airplane icon when Airplane Mode is on.
. Turn off Do Not Disturb or Quiet Hours - Some phones have a Do Not Disturb or Quiet Hours setting that prevents you from receiving calls during a selected timeframe or while the setting is turned on.
. Turn off Call Forwarding - Dial #21# on your phone and press the Call, Send, Talk, or Receiver key. If your calls continue to forward to another number, visit Turn Call Forwarding on and off for help.
. Check the Blocked Calls or Reject List - Some phones allow you to block calls from certain numbers or to create a reject list. After adding a telephone number to the reject list, your phone will reject all calls from that number.
. Insert SIM card - Remove and reinsert the SIM card if the phone displays Insert SIM or Emergency Calls only.
6. Visit att.com/softwareupdates to verify your device has the latest software and update if needed.
7. If this is a new phone or SIM card, learn how to activate a device.
8. If your service is suspended, learn how to reactivate wireless service.
9. If you have AT&T Smart LimitsSM, visit About Smart Limits to learn how to manage your settings to allow you to make and receive desired calls.
10. If you have AT&T Call Protect, you can view a list of block calls and the reasons why they were blocked. Visit AT&T Call Protect app to learn more.
